Accessory Maintenance: What to Replace and When

A simple replacement schedule so nothing sneaks up on you mid-season.

Small, cheap accessories quietly wear out faster than the paddle itself — here’s a realistic replacement rhythm to keep your setup performing.

Item Replace When
Overgrip Every 3-6 weeks of regular play, or once tackiness noticeably fades
Edge guard When it’s visibly worn through or lifting at the edges
Balls When they crack, go out of round, or lose bounce consistency
Court shoes Every 6-12 months of regular play, or once outsole tread visibly flattens
Paddle itself See our full signs-you-need-a-new-paddle guide for the detailed version
A SIMPLE HABIT

Do a quick 30-second gear check before your first session each week — grip tackiness, ball condition, shoe tread. It catches small issues before they become mid-game problems.
