How to Become a Certified Pickleball Coach in Malaysia

The main certification paths available to coaches in Malaysia, and what each one covers.

As the sport grows across the region, more players are turning coaching into a side income or full-time role. Here are the main routes to getting certified.

1
Malaysia Pickleball Association (MPA) Certified Instructor course
MPA runs its own Certified Instructor Level 1 course covering coaching ethics and safety, rules and match officiating, basic stroke and drill technique, and court positioning and communication.
2
IPTPA certification
The International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association is a globally recognised body that awards certification once instructors meet its teaching standards — several coaches based in Malaysia hold this credential.
3
AAPC coaching courses
The Australasian Academy of Pickleball Coaching also runs certification courses that are accessible to coaches based in Malaysia and the wider region.
4
Build a track record before certifying
Most certification bodies expect some playing and informal coaching experience first — volunteering to help beginners at your local club is a common starting point.
5
List yourself once certified
Once certified, you can apply to be listed on our Sign Up as a Coach page to reach players looking for lessons in your area.
