Best Control Paddles for Kitchen-Focused Players
If your game lives at the kitchen line, this is what to look for in a paddle.
If your game lives at the kitchen line, this is what to look for in a paddle.
Players who win through soft hands and patient dinking need a very different paddle profile than players trying to drive through opponents.
Control paddles typically use a softer polymer honeycomb core, which absorbs impact and reduces the “trampoline” pop of harder-hitting paddles — giving you more feel and touch on dinks and resets, at some cost to raw power.
| Spec | What to Look For |
|---|---|
| Core thickness | 16mm cores generally offer more control and dwell time than thinner 12.7-14mm cores |
| Core material | Polymer honeycomb — softer feel, quieter sound, better touch |
| Weight | Mid-weight (7.5-8oz) balances maneuverability with stability at the net |
| Shape | Widebody shapes offer a larger sweet spot, useful for consistent resets |
