Best Power Paddles for Aggressive Drivers
What to prioritize if your game is built around driving the ball, not dinking it.
What to prioritize if your game is built around driving the ball, not dinking it.
Power paddles trade some of the control and touch of a soft-game paddle for a stiffer, more responsive hit — ideal for players who rely on driving through opponents rather than out-dinking them.
Full foam cores and stiffer Nomex or aluminum honeycomb cores generally produce a firmer, more explosive response than soft polymer cores — more “pop” off contact, though with less forgiveness on off-center hits and a louder sound.
| Spec | What to Look For |
|---|---|
| Core | Full foam or Nomex/aluminum honeycomb for a stiffer, more powerful response |
| Thickness | Thinner cores (12.7-14mm) tend to feel firmer and more reactive than 16mm |
| Shape | Elongated shapes add reach and swing leverage, favoring drives |
| Weight | Slightly heavier paddles (8oz+) add momentum behind drives, at some cost to maneuverability |
A more powerful paddle amplifies your mistakes as much as your winners — players newer to the sport are often better served starting with a more forgiving, control-first paddle. See our beginner paddle guide.
