The “sweet spot” is the zone on the face where contact produces the most control and power with the least vibration — hit outside it and the ball responds unpredictably.
Two paddles with identical weight and thickness can feel completely different in play if their sweet spot size differs — it’s one of the biggest reasons “demo before you buy” is worth doing when possible, since sweet spot isn’t always listed as a formal spec.
