RPM Q2 Full Foam Paddle: Technology Explained

What full foam construction actually means, and what RPM does differently with the Q2.

The RPM Q2 is the launch model of RPM’s Q Series, developed with paddle engineer John Kew as a refined full-foam performance paddle.

Core Construction

The Q2 uses a fully molded EPP foam core with 3mm groove channels molded directly into the foam (rather than cut in after the fact), designed to add controlled flex while preserving consistent material response across the face — reducing the dead spots that can occur with post-cut incisions.

Surface Technology

RPM’s FRICTION CarbonBite surface is engineered to maximize grit and friction between paddle and ball, aimed at strong topspin and biting slices without sacrificing durability.

Available Configurations

The Q2 is available in 14mm and 16mm thicknesses, in both widebody and elongated shapes — see our guides on core thickness and shape differences to decide which configuration fits your game.

WHO IT SUITS

Full foam paddles like the Q2 generally deliver a firmer, more powerful response than traditional honeycomb cores — better suited to players who already have consistent contact and want more pop, rather than beginners still building control.
